Coastal Trail

The Stewards have partnered with the Mendocino Land Trust (MLT), the City of PA and BLM to create a trail connection from Arena Cove up to the existing bluff top trail on the Point Arena-Stornetta Lands. The Stewards approached the owners of the Coast Guard Inn, the McCollum family, about a potential public trail easement on their property and they were agreeable to the idea. Great news for our community. On April 6th, the State Coastal Conservancy awarded a $100,000 planning grant to MLT and ACS to begin the necessary studies and create the trail plans.

Arena Cove Master Plan

Take the survey here.

The Stewards have partnered with the City of Point Arena to help develop a Master Plan for Arena Cove. The Plan will guide future changes and developments in and around Arena Cove and will encompass both the natural environment and human development. Our first community survey will launch this spring. Following the survey and throughout the summer we will have public meetings and more surveys in an effort to fully engage the community.

Sea Level Rise Study

We worked with City staff to select Environmental science Associates(ESA) based out of Petaluma to conduct a Sea Level Rise Assessment. The study will look at how rising sea levels will impact Arena Cove’s infrastructure and natural environment. ESA will also model how Arena Creek will be impacted by strong winter storms and how the creek will be effected by rising sea levels. The Study is scheduled to finish up in the summer of 2023, and its results will help to Influence development and restoration in Arena Cove.
